Omega Psi Phi Epsilon Nu
The Epsilon Nu Chapter was founded in June 1967. We celebrate 50 years of service!
The National organization was founded at Howard University November 17, 1911.
Our local chapter has a rich history of service to our community.
The Miss Black Upstate Scholarship Pageant formerly the Miss Black Spartanburg Scholarship Pageant reigned for 37 years awarding over $100,000 dollars in scholarships to pageant winners and participants. Many ladies went on to win individual pageants statewide and nationally.
The Mardi Gras our major fundraiser has provided over $44,000 dollars in scholarships to our Achievement Week Scholars.
The Achievement Week Program recognizes high school seniors with outstanding academic performance with scholarships. Also, community leaders and business leaders are recognized for their accomplishments. Omega members are recognized for their service.
The Omega Raiders football team and cheerleaders were sponsored by the fraternity for 16 years providing athletic competition, good sportsmanship, fellowship and fun for our youth ages 9 to 12 years old. Over 800 youth participated in this athletic activity.
Boys Camp is an annual event when we send boys ages 8 to 14 to summer camp for a week. The week is packed with outdoor fun and character building. We provide camp scholarships annually of $2,100 dollars. This project has been in service over 20 years sponsoring over 166 boys to summer camp.
The Black History Worship service conducted by our brothers of the ministry Brothers- Rev Charles JJ Jackson, Rev Keith McDaniel, Rev Michael Glenn, Rev James Hailstock, Rev Ron Henderson and Rev James Nesbitt has raised over $5,300 for scholarship in just 3 years for our college-bound seniors.
The Father Daughter Dance in its sixth year is a magic moment in time when fathers and their daughters have a special evening together of food, dance, and fellowship to teach our young ladies how to be treated specially by a man in their life.
The C Tyrone Gilmore Golf Tournament is in its fifth year as a fundraiser to support the First Tee Program to teach our youth about golf and the principles of good behavior surrounding the sport.
This tournament has provided over $3,500 dollars in scholarships to support the First Tee Program.
Older projects and newer projects all have a similar theme by our chapter- Uplift our community with an unselfish dedication to our youth and citizens to make Spartanburg a better place!
